TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf program closed the early signing period by inking Carolina Caminoli of Castel Gandolfo, Italy and Jiwon Jeon of Daegu, South Korea to national letters of intent, head coach Mic Potter announced Tuesday.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Jiwon and Carolina join our program in August 2018," head coach Mic Potter said. "Jiwon comes to us from Daytona State as a proven college player. She was ranked among the top golfers in all divisions at the end of last season and she has four college wins to her credit. She's proven she can compete against the best players in the country.
"We saw Carolina play three years ago in Florida and her natural talent just floored us. She's had tremendous success with the Italian girl's national team and also as an individual in her home country and across Europe. We look forward to seeing her progress and continue to improve."
One of the top-ranked junior golfers in Italy, Caminoli has competed internationally for her home country in the European Girls' Team Championship in 2014 and 2015 and at the World Junior Girls Championship in 2015 as well as number of national championship events at the junior level. She was also a member of the 2016 Italian national club championship team playing for her home club, Castel Gandolfo.
Jeon will join the tide from Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Fla. She finished third at the 2017 NJCAA National Championship as a freshman and has five tournament wins to her credit in her junior college career. She was a first-team NJCAA All-American in 2017.
