Alabama Men’s Tennis Completes Day Two at CCB Collegiate Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team completed day two at the CCB Collegiate Invitational, with rounds of doubles and one round of singles play at the Country Club of Birmingham on Saturday.
Freshman Grant Stuckey earned his second victory of the tournament by defeating Eric Wagner of Tulane in a tightly contested three-set match, 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (5). The Charlotte, N.C., native will advance to take on Pedro Uribe of Lipscomb on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Sophomore Edson Ortiz fell to Adam Walton of Tennessee, 7-6 (7), 6-4, while sophomore Zhe Zhou dropped in the White Singles Draw semifinal to Luca Wiedanmann of Tennessee, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (3).
In doubles play, Ortiz/Zhou defeated Jankulovski/Soriano of Miami, 8-6, before falling to Rogers/Walton of Tennessee, 8-6. The doubles pairing of Stuckey and Wagner (Tulane) were defeated by Esipov/Tortrakul of Southern Miss, 8-6, before blanking Fruh/Gonzalez of South Alabama, 8-0.
The tournament will wrap up with a final round of singles at 9 a.m., on Sunday.
The 12 teams in the tournament include: Alabama, East Tennessee State, Lipscomb, Miami, Portland, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, Troy, Tulane and UAB.
