Top-three sweep at SEC Championships vaults the Tide into national rankings
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A day after moving up to No. 2 in the South Region, the Alabama men's cross country team makes its first appearance in the national rankings this season, checking in at No. 28 in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll released Tuesday.
The Crimson Tide runners are coming off a strong performance at last Friday's SEC Cross Country Championships. The Tide men finished second and junior Vincent Kiprop won the men's individual title to lead a sweep of the top three spots as fellow UA juniors Gilbert Kigen and Alfred Chelanga finished second and third, respectively.
The Alabama men's and women's teams compete next at the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 10 at the Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa.
