Alabama Swimmer Flora Molnar Named SEC Female Freshman of the Week

The rookie, already ranked in Alabama’s all-time top-10 and is the nation’s No. 1-ranked freshman in three events, was named CollegeSwimming.com NCAA Division I Swimmer of the Week and the SEC Freshman of the Week
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimmer Flora Molnar was named the CollegeSwimming.com NCAA Division I Female Swimmer of the Week and the Southeastern Conference's Female Freshman of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Molnar opened her SEC career with four individual and four relay wins in dual meets against Florida and at Auburn. In the Crimson Tide's home opener against No. 20 Florida, she took first in the 100 freestyle (50.18) and 100 butterfly (54.49) and was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay.
Molnar also won two individual events and was a member of both winning relays as Alabama earned its first victory over No. 9 Auburn since 1996. She clocked the seventh-fastest time in the nation in the 50 freestyle (22.41) and fifth-best time in the 100 butterfly (53.00) against the Tigers. Molnar's lead-off leg split in the 400 freestyle relay (49.34) currently ranks 12th in the nation's top times.
After just her third meet as part of the Crimson Tide, Molnar is ranked second in the 50 freestyle, fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 100 freestyle all-time at Alabama. She is also the nation's top-ranked freshman in the 50 and 100 freestyles as well as the 100 butterfly.
Alabama returns to action Nov. 16-18 at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
