Alabama Rowing Travels to Boston for 53rd Head of the Charles Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Alabama rowing continues its fall slate this weekend at the 53rd annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass. on the Charles River. The Crimson Tide will send two boats to compete in the Women's' Club 4+ and Women's Club 8+ on Saturday, Oct. 21.
The Women's Club 4+ will compete first for Alabama at 12:57 p.m. CT amongst a field of 54 collegiate and club crews. The Tide's Women's Club 8+ will compete at 1:37 p.m. CT alongside 39 other boats in the event.
"We have two strong crews entered in the Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend," UA head coach Larry Davis said. "Each crew will face very tough competition from over 40 international, NCAA Division I and United States club crews. This will challenge us to put our best race on the river, but I believe our athletes are ready for this test.
"In my opinion, both of our crews should contend for top-10 finishes and have a shot at being medalists," Davis said. "We are looking forward to representing Alabama in Boston."
The two crews are both coming off gold-medal finishes at last week's season-opening Chattanooga Head Race. Alabama won each of its four races at the event along with three other medalist finishes, including a top-three sweep in the Women's Collegiate 8+.
In two weeks, the Tide will return to Chattanooga for the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 4-5. Alabama will then conclude its fall season the following weekend in Tuscaloosa, facing UCF on Saturday, Nov. 11.
