Alabama Women’s Golf Tops Golfstat.com National Rankings

Stephenson ranked No. 1, Gillman No. 3 in individual rankings
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After opening the 2017-18 season with a three top-two finishes, the Alabama women's golf team sits atop the Golfstat.com national rankings this week.
As a team, Alabama has begun the season at 86-under par after finishing second at the Mason Rudolph Championship (35-under par), winning the Schooner Fall Classic (21-under par) and posting a runner-up finish at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (30-under par). The three finishes rank as the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 3 54-hole scores vs. par, respectively, in school history.
The Tide also boasts two of the top three players in the country as junior Lauren Stephenson is ranked No. 1 by Golfstat.com and sophomore Kristen Gillman is No. 3.
Stephenson, who boasts a season average of 67.97, opened the season by sharing individual medalist honors at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship after firing a school record 16-under par 200 (68-58-64). Gillman has average 68.58 through three tournaments and took home medalist honors at the Schooner Fall Classic when she equaled Stephenson's week-old record with a 13-under par 200 (68-68-64) on the par-71 course.
Alabama will conclude the fall portion of its schedule at The Landfall Tradition, Oct. 27-29, at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
