Day One Complete of Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall for Alabama Men’s Tennis

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team recorded four wins in doubles play and two victories in singles action in the first day of the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall event at the Alabama Tennis Stadium to officially begin the 2016 fall season. Teams participating in the three day event include Alabama, Columbia, Memphis and Tulane.
Alabama's No. 26 nationally ranked doubles pair sophomore Mazen Osama and junior Matthew Rossouw topped Memphis's Andrew Watson and Kai Lemke in an 8-4 decision. Freshmen Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov outlasted Memphis's Sakeel Manji and Matt Story, 8-7(8), before Nestrov and senior Ritchie Kruunenberg defeated Tulane's Chi-Shan Jao and Jonathan Star, 8-5. Senior Hayes Brewer and sophomore Langford Hills registered the Tide's final doubles victory in an 8-7(2) decision over Memphis's Turner Voges and Chris Patzanovsky.
In singles play, Rossouw dominated Chris Patzanovsky of Memphis, 6-4, 6-0, before Hills overcame Memphis's Shakeel Manji, 7-5, 6-4. Both of Alabama's singles wins came in just two sets.
Tomorrow teams will only compete in singles which is set to start at 8 a.m. CT.
