
Alabama Tied for the Lead after First Round at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Alabama women's golf team opened the fall portion of the 2016-17 season with a four-under par 284 to sit in a tie for first place after the first day of competition at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn. The Crimson Tide shares the lead with Northwestern at the par-72, 6,451-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club. SMU is in third at even par (288), Auburn is fourth at one-over par (289) and UCF and Troy are tied for fifth at three-over par (291).
Sophomore Cheyenne Knight fired the low round for the Tide on Friday, shooting a four-under par 68 to end her day tied for the individual lead. Freshman Kristen Gillman, who is making her collegiate debut at the Mason Rudolph, and junior Lakareber Abe both finished with 1-under par 71s and are tied for eighth. Sophomore Lauren Stephenson carded a two-over par 74 and is tied for 30th. Senior Mia Landegren ended the day with a three-over par 75 and is tied for 38th place.
Alabama will be paired with Northwestern and SMU for Saturday's second round. Lauren Stephenson will be first off for the Tide at 10:10 a.m. (CT), followed by Mia Landegren at 10:20, Lakareber Abe at 10:30, Kristen Gillman at 10:40 and Cheyenne Knight at 10:50.
