TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's track and field team debuts at No. 5 while the men are ranked No. 7 in the preseason U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Rankings, which were released Tuesday.
Both teams will be in action on Saturday night, competing in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tenn. The Tide men won this meet a year ago, while the women finished second. Alabama also claims the defending individual champions in both races. Antibahs Kosgei won the men's race in 2015 while Rachael Reddy won the women's race.
Kosgei returns for his senior year as the defending Southeastern Conference and NCAA South Regional champion. He was named both the SEC and South Region runner of the year for his performance in 2015. Reddy, now a sophomore, and senior Hannah Waggoner return to lead a young women's squad.
