TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head swimming and diving coach Dennis Pursley announced Monday that Lisa Ebeling, a member of Pursley's staff since the 2012-13 season, has accepted the head coaching position at Northern Colorado.
"Lisa has played an integral role in our program's development during the past four years and we are certainly going to miss her," Pursley said. "At the same time, we are happy for Lisa because this is the perfect career move for her."
A national search for Ebeling's replacement will begin immediately. In addition to her on-deck coaching duties, Ebeling served as the recruiting coordinator for the Crimson Tide women's program.
"I'm extremely proud and grateful to have been a part of the Alabama swimming and diving family for the past four years and to have had a part in rebuilding this program into a national power," Ebeling said. "I am excited for the opportunity to use the knowledge I have gained with the Crimson Tide to help build a winning tradition at Northern Colorado."
The Colorado Springs, Colo., native came to Tuscaloosa after stints as an assistant coach at the University of Utah and Rutgers University. She was part of the coaching staff in the Utes inaugural season as part of the Pac-12 Conference in 2011-12, during which Utah broke 15 school records.
A three-time All-American at Arizona, Ebeling helped the Wildcats win the 2006 Pac-10 championship. She also earned Academic All-America honors during her Wildcat career and was honored with the Mary Roby Academic Achievement Award.
Ebeling graduated from Arizona with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2007 and coached at the Phoenix Swim Club while pursuing her master's degree at Arizona State.
