Alabama’s Crews Wellford Leads the Tide on Day Five of U.S. Olympic Trials

The All-American finished 45th in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:03.01
Alabama's Crews Wellford posted the Crimson Tide's best finish on day five of the United States Swimming Olympic Team Trials Thursday in Omaha, Neb.
The men's team captain in 2016, Wellford took 45th place in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:03.01.
In the 100-meter freestyle, Temarie Tomley was 57th with a time of 56.76. All-American Bridget Blood was 58th with a 2:34.13 while Stephanie Klotz was 109th after posting a 2:38.48 in the 200-meter breaststroke. Alec Scott was 75th with a time of 2:07.11 and Taylor Charles was 82nd after clocking a 2:08.40 in the 200-meter individual medley.
The Crimson Tide has five swims lined up for Friday. All-Americans Alex Gray and Robert Howard will swim the 50-meter freestyle while Will Freeman and Jacob Kelsoe will swim the 100-meter butterfly. Katie Kelsoe will hit the water in the 200-meter backstroke.
