TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - A crucial series win on the road helped propel Alabama back into the top five, coming in at No. 4 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
Alabama took the series win over previously top-ranked Florida in Gainesville, handing the Gators their first series loss of the season. This week marks Alabama's highest ranking in either poll since March 8.
For the first time this season, Florida is not ranked No. 1 as the series loss dropped them to No. 2 in the NFCA poll and No. 3 in the USA Softball poll, allowing Michigan to claim the top spot in both. Auburn jumped ahead to No. 2 in the USA Softball poll but remained at No. 3 in the NFCA poll, while Louisiana-Lafaeytte held steady at No. 5 in both. Five different teams, including Alabama, are receiving first-place votes in the NFCA poll and six are doing so in the USA Softball poll.
Nine SEC schools are represented in the top 25 this week, the most of any conference: Florida (2/3), Auburn (3/2), Alabama (4/4), LSU (8/9), Georgia (10/11), Texas A&M (11/10), Missouri (15/14), Kentucky (16/15), and Tennessee (17/19). South Carolina received top 25 votes in the coaches' poll and Ole Miss received votes in both.
