Track & Field Concludes Action at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Alabama men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up action at the 2016 Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Fla.
The Crimson Tide throwers came through with another outstanding day. Sophomore Haley Teel set a new personal best in the shot put, throwing over 16 meters for the first time in her career. Her best mark of 53-4 1/4 (16.26m) ranks fourth in school history in the event. The men's discus featured three Alabama men producing a heave of over 60 meters. Junior Hayden Reed finished with a distance of 199-7 (60.83m), the eighth-best mark in program history. Junior Joe Williams (60.40m) and redshirt freshman Kord Ferguson (60.13m) also eclipsed the 60-meter mark for the first time. Redshirt freshman Daniel Haugh threw 183-9 (56.02m), also a new personal best.
The 4x100 relay team composed of juniors Vanessa Clerveaux, Diamond Gause, Alex Gholston and Quanesha Burks finished fifth thanks to a time of 43.76, tying the fourth-fastest time in the event in school history.
The Tide will make its way to Baton Rouge, La., for the Battle of the Bayou on Saturday, April 9.

Men's Event Summaries - Florida Relays
4x100 Relay - The quartet of junior Jeremiah Green, senior Ahmed Ali, senior Tadashi Pinder and freshman Matthew Likely combined for a time of 40.13 in the 4x100 relay.
Pole Vault - In an event not completed to as a result of the weather conditions on Saturday, freshman Will Herrscher ended in a tie for second with a clearance of 16-10 3/4 (5.15m).
Discus (Invitational) - Three Crimson Tide throwers recorded a mark over 60 meters in the discus, led by a heave of 199-7 (60.83m) from junior Hayden Reed that earned him runner-up honors. That effort is good enough for eighth on the all-time Alabama list in the event. Junior Joe Williams was fifth with a best toss 198-2 (60.40m), the farthest of his career. Redshirt freshman Kord Ferguson was just behind him at 197-3 (60.13m), also setting a personal best. Redshirt freshman Daniel Haugh placed eighth behind a mark of 183-9 (56.02m), a new personal best as well.
Shot Put (Invitational) - Junior Kyle Felpel finished third in the invitational portion of the shot put with a best mark of 61-0 3/4 (18.61m). Ferguson ended up sixth after a throw of 59-5 3/4 (18.13m), and Reed's 55-9 (16.99m) landed him 10th.
Shot Put - Junior Nathan Karr recorded an effort of 52-2 3/4 (15.92m) in the shot put.
Women's Event Summaries - Florida Relays
4x100 Relay - The squad of juniors Vanessa Clerveaux, Diamond Gause, Alex Gholston and Quanesha Burks finished fifth in the 4x100 relay thanks to a time of 43.76, which equals the fourth-fastest time in the event in school history.
Shot Put (Invitational) - Sophomore Haley Teel threw over 16 meters for the first time in her career in the shot put, finishing sixth with a heave of 53-4 1/4 (16.26m). That ranks fourth in program history in the event.
