Being the youngest of four in a family full of athletes, Kallie Case has always had the drive to win.
A native of Suwanee, Ga., Case has always been surrounded by sports. Her fondest memory as a child was watching her older sister Kelsey play softball and wanting to get out on the field and play alongside her.
"Being the youngest, I always watched my brothers and sister play," Case said. "I think that's what gave me the competitive edge that I have."
Her sister Kelsey played college softball at Valdosta State, the same college where her brother Kody played football. Case's parents were both athletes as well. Her father Scott played 12 years in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys in 1995, while her mother Connie was a collegiate softball player at Northeast Oklahoma A&M.
Case says that being able to play sports as a team with her family helped shape her into the player that she is today.
"You have the same passion and love for the game, whether it's football, softball or basketball," Case said. "I think that ties our family together because you just have to be competitive and have the same passion. It has brought us together."
Case is now honored to be a part of the Alabama softball family, especially as a senior in its 20th anniversary season. Case has enormous respect for all of the program's alumni.
"You know how much hard work, blood, sweat and tears that all of them gave for us to have the best stadium, scoreboard and fans in the country," Case said. "I feel like I've played with them and they might even have some kids my age. I think it's a special bond even though we may not really know each other very well."
Case describes her current teammates as her sisters, and the family atmosphere extends through the entire staff.
"Coach [Patrick] Murphy and Aly [Habetz] are like the dad and mom of the family," Case said. "Coach Adam [Arbour] and Coach Steph [VanBrakle] are like the big brother and big sister and the team is like 17 other sisters to me.
"It's definitely a family atmosphere and that's why I love Alabama so much."
Case will celebrate her senior day on Saturday, March 5.
