Redshirt junior guard Pancake Thomas (Baton Rouge, La.) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 1 Second Team, the organization announced. He is the first Hawks player to earn All-District honors since Kenny Adeleke in 2006.
"I'm so proud that the NABC has picked Pancake for this honor," head coach John Gallagher said. "He is such a special player, and to have the coaches recognize him for his accomplishments this year is great for our program and something he is very deserving of."
Thomas finished the season with 566 points, the eighthÂÂ most in Hartford history and the sixthÂÂ most in the Hawks' Division I history. Former NBA All-Star Vin Baker has three of the Hawks' top-five D-I seasons. Thomas' 81 made three-pointers were the seventh-most in Hartford lore and his .426 three-point percentage was third. He posted four games of 35-plus points, joining Baker as the only two Hawks to accomplish that in a single season.
The Baton Rouge native finished second in the America East in scoring with 18.9 points per game, and also finished in the league's top 10 in rebounding (9th, 6.4), assists (9th, 2.8), steals (8th, 1.2), free-throw percentage (4th, .827), 3FG percentage (6th, .426) and assist-to-turnover ratio (6th, 1.6). He led the league in 3-point FG made (2.7) and minutes played (34.6) as well, and was named Second Team All-Conference for his efforts.
Thomas and the Hawks advanced to the America East Semifinals, falling to eventual league champion Stony Brook. Hartford upset No. 2 seed and three-time defending America East champion Albany, delivering the Great Danes their only home loss of the 2015-16 season.
