TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama rowing opens its spring racing schedule this weekend, competing against Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 9 a.m. on the Black Warrior River.
Admission is free and fans can watch the races at the Park at Manderson Landing, located on Jack Warner Parkway. Additionally, the team boathouse will be open to the public from 11-11:30 so that fans can see the team's new amenities following the races and ask any questions they may have about the space, equipment or the sport of rowing.
Instead of the typical 2,000-meter course used in most spring races, the teams will compete in a number of shorter 1,000-meter pieces. The teams will run four sessions of three races each, starting at 9 a.m. and running approximately every 10 minutes thereafter.
