TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - An undefeated week for Alabama softball allowed the Crimson Tide to move up in both national polls, placing fourth in the USA Today/NFCA coaches' poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball media poll, released Tuesday.
The Crimson Tide was previously ranked fifth in the coaches' poll and sixth in the media poll. The top seven teams are identical in both polls, with Florida claiming the top spot followed by Michigan, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette and Oregon. Washington and Georgia also appear in both top 10s, while James Madison leapt up the NFCA rankings, moving from 19th last week to a No. 10 spot this week. The Dukes only moved up to No. 12 in the media poll, as UCLA claims the 10th spot in that poll.
In total, nine SEC schools are represented in the top 25, the most of any conference: Florida (1/1) Auburn (3/3), Alabama (4/4), LSU (5/5), Georgia (8/9), Tennessee (14/19), Texas A&M (16/14), Missouri (17/12), Kentucky (18/17) and Mississippi State (RV/23).
