Cross Country Earns Coaches Association Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The Alabama cross country teams were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), receiving All-Academic Team accolades as announced by the association on Friday. Additionally, senior Katelyn Greenleaf and junior Hannah Waggoner also earned All-Academic status as individuals.
A student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and have finished in the top 25 at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet in order to qualify for the individual award.
Greenleaf, a senior majoring in Nutrition, carries a 3.89 cumulative GPA. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native ran to a third-place finish at the South Regional meet in the fall to advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the first time in her career. Waggoner, a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, has a cumulative GPA of 3.71. The native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., placed 18th overall at the regional meet.
The Crimson Tide women recorded a GPA of 3.62 to take home the team academic honor, while the men posted a GPA of 3.09 to qualify.
