Alabama Women’s Golf Breaks this Weekend Before Closing Out Fall Schedule Oct. 28-30

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team will be off this weekend before traveling to Wilmington, N.C. for the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall Oct. 28-30. The tournament will be the final outing of the fall for the Crimson Tide.
Alabama in the National Rankings
The Crimson Tide's team score of 71.16 ranks No. 1 in the Golfstat statistical rankings released Oct. 18. Florida State (71.18), UCLA (71.68), USC (71.84) and Oklahoma (72.38) round out the top five. The Tide is No. 2 in the latest Golfweek ratings with a rating of 69.81. UCLA is No. 1 at 69.80. Stanford (70.33), Florida State (70.52) and USC (70.59) round out the top five.
Crimson Tide Boasts Four of Nation's Top 20 Golfers
Sophomore Cheyenne Knight enters the weekend as the No. 5-rated golfer in the nation in the latest Golfstat statistical rankings released Oct. 18. Knight (69.22) is joined in the top 20 by three of her teammates: sophomore Lauren Stephenson (69.56) is tied for eighth, junior Lakareber Abe (70.17) is 15th and freshman Kristen Gillman (70.44) is 17th.
Knight (6th), Stephenson (10th), Gillman (19th) and Abe (22nd) are also among the leaders in the Golfweek women's rankings released Oct. 18.
Shooting in the 60s
The duo of Cheyenne Knight (69.22) and Lauren Stephenson (69.56) gives Alabama two players with an average score below 70. UCLA is the only other team with two sub-70 teammates - Bronte Law (69.60) and Lilia Vu (69.80).
Last Outing: Alabama Finishes Second at Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational
Alabama shot a two-over par 290 on the final day of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 16 at the par-72, 6,379-yard Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Tide (285-284-290/859) finished second at five-under par to earn its third top-two finish in three tournaments this fall. Wake Forest (282-287-285/854) won the tournament with a 10-under par performance. Arkansas (286-287-287/860) was third at four-under par, North Carolina State finished fourth at two-over par (286-287-289/866). South Carolina (292-291-290/873) and Tennessee (294-291-288/873) tied for fifth at nine-over par.
Individually, sophomore Lauren Stephenson finished second at nine-under par (68-70-69/207), her second runner-up finish in three outings in 2016. Sophomore Cheyenne Knight (70-71-73/214) tied for ninth at two-under par. Freshman Kristen Gillman (71-70-76/217) tied for 15th at one-over par. Seniors Cammie Gray (seven-over par, 76-75-72/223) and Mia Landegren (16-over par, 79-73-80/232) tied for 37th and 76th, respectively.
