Successful Day Two of 2016 ITA Southern Regional Championships for Alabama Men’s Tennis

AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team registered two victories in doubles play and four in singles play to complete the second day of competition in the 2016 ITA Southern Regional Championships at the Yarbrough Tennis Center on Saturday. The tournament is a four-day event and features 14 programs in the region.
The Tide's No. 26 nationally ranked doubles pair in sophomore Mazaen Osama and junior Matthew Rossouw picked up two wins to move onto the semi-finals of the doubles main draw. Osama and Rossouw topped Filip Kraljevic and Babc Zvonimir of Ole Miss, 8-1, before going on to outlast Auburn's Eopy Nguyen and Conner Huertas in an 8-7 decision.
Alabama's No. 34 ranked singles player of Osama won two matches in straight sets to advance to the quarter-finals of the singles main draw. Osama topped Grey Hamilton of Ole Miss, 6-1, 6-1, before going on to defeat Auburn's Carles Sarrio in a 6-4, 6-3 decision. Senior Ritchie Kruunenberg overcame UAB's Christian Coetzee, 7-5, 6-4, before sophomore Langford Hill tallied the Tide's final singles win of the day over Jackson State's Matthew Chaim, 6-0, 6-2.
The singles and doubles champions advance to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., in November.
