Alabama Rowing Announces 2015-16 Schedule

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama Rowing has announced its 2015-16 schedule, as the team enters its 10th season as a varsity sport.
The fall season begins on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn. The following week, the Crimson Tide head to Cambridge, Mass., for the Head of the Charles and will close out the fall on Nov. 7-8 back in Chattanooga at the Head of the Hooch. The spring schedule consists of seven races, including three in Tuscaloosa on the Black Warrior River. The spring season begins on Feb. 27 with a dual meet against Eastern Michigan in Tuscaloosa. This will be the second meeting between the two teams in Tuscaloosa since 2014, as the Eagles previously competed against Alabama on the Black Warrior River on April 5, 2014.
On March 12-13, Alabama travels to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Cardinal Invitational Regatta. The following weekend on March 19-20, Alabama will compete at two separate locations as a split squad, with part of the team traveling to Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif., and the other portion competing in Tuscaloosa against Drake and Jacksonville for the second straight season. The entire team resumes competition on April 9-10 at the Knecht Cup Regatta in Mercer, N.J. Last season, Alabama finished second in the First Varsity 4 grand final at the event, marking the first time the Tide have medaled in a Knecht Cup grand final. Overall, six of Alabama's boats qualified for final rounds, with three of those competing in grand finals.
Alabama's final home event of the season is a dual meet on Saturday, April 30 against SMU, as the Mustangs are making a return trip after the Tide traveled to Dallas last season. The postseason portion of the schedule begins on May 14-15 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., at the Big XII Championships, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
