TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Twelve members of the Alabama rowing team received Scholar-Athlete designation from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), marking the largest total in program history.
The Crimson Tide's 12 award winners this season beats the previous best of 11 set in 2010. Alabama has had at least five student-athletes named to the list every year since the program's inaugural 2006-07 season. In total, 122 Crimson Tide rowers have earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors over those eight seasons.
The CRCA requires that Scholar-Athlete award winners maintain a minimum 3.5 career grade point average, be at least a sophomore in eligibility and compete in 75 percent of a team's spring races.
