Alabama Beats Fairfield, 8-0 in six innings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Fairfield Stags 8-0 in six inning to close day one of the 2015 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional being held at Rhoads Stadium this weekend.
Alabama got on the scoreboard early, plating two runs in the first inning and then added five more over the third, fourth and fifth innings. A Carrigan Fain single pushed Jadyn Spencer across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to invoke the run rule. Among the Tide's 15 hits were two homeruns, one from Danae Hays in the third inning and another from Haley McCleney in the fourth.
Sidney Littlejohn picked up the win for Alabama, pushing her record to 16-1 on the season, while Lauren Falkanger took the loss for Fairfield, falling to 11-12.
Alabama returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Washington while Fairfield faces USC Upstate in the regional's first elimination game Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
