First Round Results
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Alabama women's golf team shot a first round 19-over 303 Friday at the par-71, 6,142-yard Pete Dye Course at the Long Cove Club and is tied for 13th place.
On a day that did not yield low scores, only five golfers in the tournament field recorded scores under par. Sophomore Mia Landegren carded a 2-over 73 to pace the Crimson Tide. The native of Bridgeport, Conn., made birdies on holes five and 15, and is tied for 17th going into the second round.
Both Emma Talley and Janie Jackson finished at 3-over 74 and are in a 13-way tie for 22nd. Jackson played a bogey-free front nine at 2-under, as she made birdies on two par-4s. Talley ended her round with a streak of eight straight pars. In total, Talley carded 15 pars, which was second-most in the field on day one.
Freshman Lakareber Abe carded her first career round in the 80s with an 82 that is tied for 81st position. Cammie Gray's 84 was the Crimson Tide's drop score from the first round.
Southern California sits atop the team leaderboard after 18 holes at 1-over 285. LSU is in second place at 7-over while Arkansas, Duke and North Carolina are tied for third at 9-over 293.
Alabama is set to tee off the second round Saturday morning at 8:20 a.m. CT on hole No. 10. The Crimson Tide will be paired with Georgia and Wake Forest.
