Four Gymnasts Earn 2015 All-SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 2015 Southeastern Conference Champion Alabama gymnastics team placed four gymnasts on this season's All-SEC team the league office announced Thursday.
"Saturday was a total team victory," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "Everyone contributed to that championship, every single person was vital to our winning effort."
Senior Kaitlyn Clark, juniors Carley Sims and Lauren Beers as well as sophomore Keely McNeer were all named All-SEC, which is made up of gymnasts with the top-two scores on each event and in the all-around at the SEC Championships.
"I'm so proud of Kaitlyn, Carley, Lauren and Keely," Duckworth said. "They are all certainly extremely deserving of this recognition."
McNeer led off the meet on the balance beam for the Crimson Tide, posting a 9.9, the second best score of the entire meet. Clark also scored a 9.9 on the balance beam. The senior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., also won the vault with a 9.95. Carley Sims posted a career-best 9.95 on the floor exercise to earn All-SEC while Beers earned the honor after posting a 39.500 in the all-around.
With this weekend off from competition, the Alabama gymnastics squad returns to action Saturday, April 4 in the NCAA Auburn Regional Championship starting at 6 p.m. Ticket information can be found at www.AuburnTigers.com. There will be two busses traveling from Tuscaloosa to the regional on Saturday. One will be the Tuscaloosa Toyota UA Student Bus and the other will be the Medalist Club Fan Bus.
