TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama gymnastics team welcomed some very important guests to the Frances Smith Practice Facility Friday afternoon, hosting its annual holiday party for the children of the Stallings RISE Center.
"There is nothing like the energy and excitement that comes from the children when they get the chance to have fun in the gym," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "We look forward to having these special young people come and visit with us all year long. Their joy is infectious and helps carry us through exams into the holiday season."
The Crimson Tide has joined with RISE for a holiday party for more than 20 years and has hosted the event in the UA practice facility since it opened in 1996. As usual, the gymnasts and RISE students were joined by a very jolly guest when Santa Claus made his way to Coleman Coliseum and the practice gym and this year he brought Mrs. Claus with him as well.
The gymnasts start exams on Monday and will train for a few days after exams are over before heading home for holiday break. The Tide's 2016 season gets underway on the road Sunday, Jan. 10 against Pac 12 foe UCLA in Los Angeles. The Tide's home slate gets underway Friday, Jan. 15 against Missouri starting at 6 p.m. CT. Season tickets can be purchased online at RollTide.com and through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262).
