Alabama rowing signed seven student-athletes during the early signing period who will join the team for the 2016-17 season. Over the coming days, we will be posting individual profiles on rolltide.com for the each member of the class. Our fifth profile is on Arielle Schafer from Galloway, N.J.
Arielle Schafer is a three-sport athlete at Absegami High School in Galloway, N.J., competing in field hockey in the fall, basketball in the winter and crew in the spring. She has been competing with the First Varsity 8 since her sophomore year. This past spring, her crew's Girls Senior 4 placed fifth in the Grand Finals at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta.
"Arielle is a gifted, all-around student-athlete," head coach Larry Davis said. "Despite splitting her athletic attention between three sports in high school, she excelled in each. Even though Arielle has committed a large amount of time to her athletic endeavors, she has also kept her studies a top priority. She is an excellent addition to our team chemistry and we're anxiously awaiting her arrival on campus this coming fall."
Schafer plans to pursue a degree in broadcast journalism when she arrives at the University of Alabama next fall.
