Alabama Rowing Concludes Weekend at the Head of the Hooch

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Alabama rowing closed out its weekend at the Head of the Hooch Regatta Sunday afternoon, competing in the Women's Open 8+. All five of the Crimson Tide's crews in the race finished in the top 20, including a pair of top 10 finishes.
"The team finished the fall with a strong overall showing at the Head of the Hooch," UA head coach Larry Davis said. "It has established a good platform for developing the speed we will need for success in our spring racing season."
Alabama's top two crews each finished under the 17-minute mark, finishing in seventh (16:49.2) and eighth (16:53.5), respectively. Another pair of Alabama boats crossed the line later within three seconds of each other, finishing back-to-back in 11th (17:07.8) and 12th (17:10.1), while the Tide's final crews placed 14th (17:23.0) and 19th (18:12.6).
Today's race gave Alabama 17 top-20 finishes this weekend and eight top-10 finishes. Between the Tide's three fall races, Alabama won five races and medaled in 13.
The weekend marks the final event of the fall season for Alabama. The Crimson Tide will commence its spring slate on Feb. 27, 2016 against Eastern Michigan on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa
