Alabama Swimmer Katie Kelsoe Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama rookie Katie Kelsoe was named the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Female Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead the Crimson Tide to a decisive win at South Carolina last Saturday.
The Memphis, Tenn., native led off the Crimson Tide's Halloween meet against the Gamecocks with a first-place finish as part of the 400 medley relay. She followed that with a pair of individual wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke events, clocking in at 55.93 and 2:01.97, respectively. Kelsoe finished more than a second and a half of the field in the 100 backstroke and more than a half second in the 200 backstroke.
After Saturday's win over the Gamecocks, Kelsoe and her the Tide teammates return to action Nov. 19-21 in Atlanta, Ga., at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
