TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama men's and women's cross country teams continue to hold the same spots from week five in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings, released Monday. The women remained in the fourth spot in the South Region, while the men finished off the top 10 in the week six rankings.
At the Southeastern Conference Championship on Friday, Oct. 30, junior Antibahs Kosgei claimed the individual men's title, finishing with a time of 23:24:20 for the 8-kilometer race. He is the first runner since 2007 for the Crimson Tide to earn the conference crown. Junior Conner Thompson also represented Alabama in 27th place with a personal best of 24:21:60.
Senior Katelyn Greenleaf led the Crimson Tide women in the 6-kilometer race, running a personal best of 20:06:90 to place seventh overall to earn All-SEC First Team honors. Rachael Reddy was the fifth freshman to finish and placed 16th overall despite running with an injury sustained at the Crimson Classic, good enough for a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
The University of Alabama will be hosting the South Region Championships next Friday, Nov. 13, at the Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide women placed third in last year's meet, while the men's team finished 15th.
