Tide Throwers Produce Season-Best Marks at Indiana Relays

Bloomington, Ind. - Five University of Alabama track & field athletes (three men, two women) competed in four throwing events on Saturday, the final day of competition at the Indiana Relays, producing four season bests in three events.
In the women's invitational weight throw, senior Nia Barnes threw 66 feet, ¾ of an inch (20.14 meters), a four-foot improvement on her previous 2015 season best to place fifth. The performance ranks sixth on the SEC top-performances list for 2015. Freshman Daniel Haugh improved his season best in the men's invitational weight throw with a toss of 63-3 ¼ (19.30m) to finish sixth, maintaining his 9th place ranking on the 2015 SEC list.
Senior Candicea Bernard made the first appearance of the day for the Tide shot put contingent, finishing fifth in the invitational section of the women's shot put. Her throw of 50-7 ½ (15.43m) tied her 2015 season best. Sophomore Kyle Felpel and Hayden Reed had season-best performances in the men's shot put. Felpel's toss of 61-1 1/4 (18.62m) was the second-best throw of the day. Reed finished fifth with a throw of 56-9 1/4 (17.30m).
