TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama gymnastics team welcomed some very important guests to the Frances Smith Practice Facility Monday afternoon, hosting its annual holiday party for the children of the Stallings RISE Center.
"The Tuscaloosa community does so much to support our ladies and this is just a small way that we can give back," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "It also gives us a chance to interact with children that are dealing any number of challenges. To see them smile so big at the chance to come in here and play and have a great time despite those challenges - I think that gives our ladies some perspective as we enter exams and the hectic holiday season."
The Crimson Tide has joined with RISE for a Christmas party for more than 20 years and has hosted the party in the UA practice facility since it opened in 1996. As usual, the gymnasts and RISE students were joined by a very jolly guest when Santa Claus made his way to Coleman Coliseum and the practice gym.
The gymnasts started exams on Monday and will train for a few days after exams are over before heading home for Christmas break. The Tide's 2015 home season gets underway Friday, Jan. 9 against Pac 12 foe Arizona. Season tickets can be purchased online at RollTide.com and through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262).
