Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry
Opening Statement:
"I really appreciate our crowd coming out tonight with the doubleheader with the men, and wish those guys luck here. We just thought tonight was really good for our team. It was chaotic. There were ups and downs and highs and lows. I thought we found a way to win ugly, and ugly counts. And you can certainly grow from nights like tonight."
On the balanced scoring:
"It is good to see balance. I see nearly five kids in double figures, you know, with 12, 21, nine, nine and eight, even nearly six. I liked our balance. It was good to see us spread that, so it was good to see."
On kicking off the eight game home stretch:
"I mean certainly to grow from where we were a week before last defending our home court. You know, we went away and had some success, and had a growing moment this past weekend. Just to be able to understand that just because you're at home, doesn't give you anything. You know that you've got to defend your home court and handle that in the right way. There is so much we have to learn right now, so it was good to win ugly tonight and do what we needed to do. Any time we can score 70 plus, I think that puts us in a position to win."
#13 Nikki Hegstetter, Forward
On bringing energy to her team:
"That is just my role and what I have to do every day, night in night out. I need to bring the energy, and be a defensive monster. That's what I need to be. I need to fire the team up on the defensive end of the floor because that will lead to our offense."
#25 Briana Hutchen, Forward
On her career-high 21 points tonight:
"Nikki (Hegstetter) and I are both energy players. If we make a shot, that's just a plus. What we are out there to do is play defense, lead the team and keep some poise out there for some of the younger players with our experience in the SEC. If I had leading points tonight, that's just a plus for our team. I need to do whatever I need to do to help the team as a senior. Whether that be rebounding or hustling or talking or pretty much doing a handoff with Nikki. We are two in the same."
On how she keeps her energy up with the number of games they've played:
"That's just who I am. I am really passionate for the game of basketball. We could play every day, and I would be excited to play. I was just telling my teammates the other day, 'We are like the NBA. We practice, play and practice, play.' But that's what we came here to do. We are on a scholarship to a DI school. We have to be able to mature and handle playing three games in a week."
