Gymnastics Hosts Annual Ghosts and Goblins Intrasquad Friday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The defending Southeastern Conference champion Alabama gymnastics team will host its annual Ghosts and Goblins intrasquad on Friday (Oct. 24) at the Frances Smith Practice Facility in Coleman Coliseum.

Fans will be admitted to Coleman Coliseum at the southeast corner (the UA Law School side of the Coliseum) starting at 6:15 p.m. and the competition starts at 6:30 p.m. Seats are limited.

"As a coaching staff, we are so excited to introduce this year's team to our amazing fans and putting our ladies in a fun but pressure-packed environment to prepare them for our season which gets underway on January 9th," first-year UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "Fans will have the opportunity to get an early glimpse of our ladies in a fun and high-energy atmosphere and I think this is a great way to help prepare us for the future." The event is slated to last 90 minutes and will not only feature great gymnastics but provides an opportunity to learn more about collegiate gymnastics scoring.

The annual intrasquad gives the current Crimson Tide squad a chance to compete in front of a crowd for the first time as well as giving fans a first look at this year's freshmen and a peek what the Tide's returnees - which includes five All-Americans - are working on for the coming season.

The Goblins are looking for their second title in a row and eighth in the past 10 years, while the Ghosts are looking for their second title in three years. This year's Ghosts lineup includes All-Americans Lora Leigh Frost and Kayla Williams, along with veterans Keely McNeer, Mary Lillian Sanders, Carley Sims, Dominique Pegg as well as newcomers Mackenzie Valentin, Nickie Guerrero and Kiana Winston.

The Goblins roster is made up of All-Americans Lauren Beers, Kaitlyn Clark and Katie Bailey as well as veterans Aja Sims, Amanda Jetter and Hunter Dennis along with freshmen Mackenzie Brannan and Jennie Loeb.
