Men's Tennis Advances Three in Southern Regional Singles Consolation

AUBURN, Ala. - The men's tennis team won six of its seven matches on Saturday to advance three to the singles consolation quarterfinal round at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships at Auburn University.
In Saturday's first round, Andrew Goodwin cruised on to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Samford's Austin Heinz before coming back to defeat UAB's Mitchell Martell, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to continue his run in the consolation draw. Sean Donohue downed Olivier Gringas of South Alabama, 6-1, 6-3, in his first match of the day and went on to outlast Southern Miss' Tarun Surat, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in the round of 16. Stuart Kenyon took both of his matches in straight sets, first beating UAB's Luiz Felipe Pinto, 7-6, 6-2, which he followed with a 7-6(4), 6-2 victory over Giacomo Adoncecchi of New Orleans.
Match play resumes on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CT at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
