
Women's Golf Opens Play at the Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Alabama women's golf team fired a first round of 15-over 303 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational Friday at the par-72, 6,379-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.
After 18 holes, the Crimson Tide sits in 17th place, while South Carolina leads the field at 1-under 287. Wake Forest and Duke are tied for second after shooting an even-par 288 opening round. North Carolina State is in fourth at 1-over 289, while Oregon rounds out the top five at 3-over 291.
Sophomore Cammie Gray of Northport, Ala., led the Tide on day one by carding a 3-over 75. Gray's round was highlighted by an eagle on the 481-yard, par-5 13th hole. She enters the second round tied for 44th.
Emma Talley, Mia Landegren and Lakareber Abe all shot rounds of 4-over 76 and counted toward Alabama's team score. They are in an 11-way tie individually for 54th. Freshman Nicole Morales was the Crimson Tide's drop score.
Alabama will tee off the second round at 8:09 a.m. (CDT) on hole 10, and will be paired with Mississippi and Michigan State. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
