ESPN.com/USA Softball Voters Place Alabama Sixth

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama softball will start the 2014 season ranked No. 6 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, released Tuesday.
Tennessee is the preseason favorite, finishing just three points ahead of defending national champion Oklahoma. Eight SEC teams are ranked in the top 25, including No.1 Tennessee, No. 3 Florida, No. 6 Alabama, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 14 Kentucky, No. 17 Missouri, No. 19 LSU and No. 21 Georgia.
Alabama also placed sixth in the preseason NFCA/USA Today poll released last week and was voted to finish third in the SEC in the preseason conference coaches poll.
The Tide opens its season next weekend at the Troy Subway Invitational in Troy, Ala. Alabama will play five games over three days, beginning on Friday, Feb. 7 against Kennesaw State at 2:30 p.m. CT.
