
Softball Has Four Earn NFCA South Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Alabama softball team had four players selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region team, the organization announced Thursday. All four will be eligible for All-American consideration.
All four Crimson Tide representatives earned first team honors as senior Kayla Braud (Eugene, Ore.) juniors Kaila Hunt (Evans, Ga.) and Jackie Traina (Naples, Fla.) and freshman Haylie McCleney (Morris, Ala.) nabbed the accolades.
It marks the fourth straight season that Braud earned all-region honors. The outfielder is batting .460 with 59 runs, 80 hits and a team-high 36 stolen bases. Braud is joined in the outfield by McCleney who leads the team with a .471 average, 63 runs, 80 hits, 13 doubles and has added four home runs, 38 RBI and 27 stolen bases in as many attempts.
Hunt nabs the honor for the second straight season as she has powered her way to 13 home runs, a team-high 55 RBI while hitting .379 with a .706 slugging percentage. Traina once again was named to the first team as she is 18-6 in the circle with a 2.38 ERA while striking out 200 in 179 1/3 innings. She has hit 13 home runs and driven in 45 while batting .333.
Alabama will open the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional against Jacksonville State on Friday, May 17. The two teams will meet at 6 p.m. CT, at Rhoads Stadium.
