CLEMSON, S.C. - The Alabama rowing team went head-to-head against No. 17 Clemson, Saturday morning at a cold and drizzly Lake Hartwell. The regatta marked the second weekend of competition for the Crimson Tide this spring season.
"We are making progress," Alabama head rowing coach Larry Davis said. "The girls did take steps forward. We were much more consistent in our speed. All of our crews improved."
The Tide finished second in all six races. Alabama posted a 7:01.4 in the 1st varsity 8, a 7:08.6 in the 2nd varsity 8 and then an 8:21.6 in the 1st varsity 4. Alabama wrapped up the day with a 7:31.4 in the 1st novice 8, an 8:03.9 in the 2nd varsity 4 and a 7:48.1 in the 2nd novice 8.
"I was really pleased with the attitudes of the girls," Davis said. "We made improvements in what we needed to do. It was an improvement from last week."
Alabama will return to the water on April 6th when the Tide goes head-to-head with Central Florida and West Virginia on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
