
Trey Mullinax wins Northern Amateur Championship

CHESTERTON, Ind. - Alabama golfer Trey Mullinax captured a prestigious tournament title on Friday at the Northern Amateur Championship at the Sand Creek Country Club.
Mullinax entered the final round tied for 25th before shooting a 63, which set the course record on the Marsh Creek layout and also clinched the victory. The win was setup with seven birdies on the front nine, including four in a row to open his round.
He chipped in for birdie on the eighth hole before carding three more birdies on the back nine. The lone blemish on his round was a bogey on the 14th hole.
Mullinax, a native of Birmingham, Ala., begins his junior season at the Capstone this fall. He boasts a career scoring average of 74.67 in 11 career starts. He has three career rounds in the 60s for the Crimson Tide and one top-10 finish.
