NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional
Pre-regional Press Conference
Head Coach Becky Clark
Opening Statement:
“We are just incredibly excited to be here. This is a huge step for our program. This is our sixth year of competition, and I think it’s a real testament to our student-athletes and the job they’ve done to come this far in such a short period of time. Our administration has supported our program, and this is definitely a team effort to get to this point. We are very excited to be here, and we are looking forward to representing the University of South Alabama in a first-class manner.”
On the state of softball in the state of Alabama:
“From my perspective, it’s amazing because I grew up in the state of Alabama. I know when I was a kid there was no such thing as ASA softball and that type of thing. The first time I played on an ASA travel team was my freshman year in college. To see, in that short period of time, how far the sport has come in our state is tremendous, and to see the opportunities that these young ladies have now is amazing. I have a lot of respect for them because they have those opportunities. They work really hard to make the most of them. I think that’s a testament to them. Back in the day, we didn’t have what these guys have now. I’ll give them credit because they take advantage of those opportunities.”

On being in the tournament:
“We are really excited to be here. This is what we’ve worked for all season and now that we are here we are going to compete and win. Our main goal has been to go to regionals. We are here to do our best.”
On getting out of ULL’s shadow:
“It’s great because ULL’s one of the best hitting teams in the nation. Knowing that we can beat them gives us a lot of confidence going into this tournament.”
#9, Britany Campbell, OF
On being in the tournament:
“I feel like this is a huge step for us. We’ve never been this far before. We’ve never won conference or been in the championship. I believe we have the fight to beat any team in this tournament and any team at all.”
