NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional
Pre-regional Press Conference
Head Coach Sharon Perkins
Opening Statement:
“We are just excited to be here. We are playing pretty well right now, and we are just looking to continue to do so. We are just excited to get the tournament started.”
On the season and ending on an upswing:
“It was a little bit of a rollercoaster dealing with some injuries. We had Kelsi (Weseman) out for the good part of three weeks. Any time that the powerhouse of your offense is out, it’s a big hit for the team. We were excited to get her back and kind of started getting on a roll. It’s still a little bit up and down. We had some good teams in conference this year, and we were playing at their place. Sometimes it’s a little bit tougher to play those teams on the road. We ended the tournament really well, and I’m excited from here on out. We seem to be playing hard together. We are putting everything together defensively. Pitching has been solid throughout the year, which is great. Offense is getting back on track.”
#9, Kelsi Weseman, SS
On playing Alabama the last time:
“It was just a battle from the first inning. It was back and forth a lot. It was a fun game to play though. I think we did a good job of picking pitches to hit against their pitcher. We didn’t try to do too much, and we had a lot of singles. We just did a good job of getting runners on and scoring.”
On what to expect from this Georgia Tech team:
“This is one of the best all-around teams that we’ve had since I’ve been here. We are good on defense, our pitching staff is really good and our hitting has picked up lately as well.”
#45, Hope Rush, P/DP
On what to expect from South Alabama:
“They are a good team. I’m excited about playing them tomorrow. They have a good program.”
On what to expect from this Georgia Tech team:
“We have a really good pitching staff. We have great hitters. I think you will see every aspect of a game with us."
