TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama gymnastics team's thrilling win at the 2012 NCAA Gymnastics Championships in Duluth, Ga. on April 21 will be broadcast on ESPNU on Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. CDT. The Crimson Tide used a huge last rotation to beat runner-up Florida and third place UCLA in the closest finish among the top-three teams in championship history.
It was Alabama's sixth NCAA title overall and second in a row, marking the first time the Tide has won back-to-back championships in its storied history. A total of eight Alabama gymnasts earned All-American honors during the championships and senior Geralen Stack-Eaton won her second individual NCAA Championship, taking first on the balance beam to follow up her 2011 national floor exercise championship.
Prior to airing the championship, ESPNU will also re-broadcast the Tide's meet against Arkansas (3:30 a.m. CDT), LSU (10 a.m. CDT) and Georgia (11:30 a.m. CDT) as well as the SEC Championships (1 and 6 p.m. CDT). To add to a day of Alabama gymnastics, Fox College Sports will air the Tide's Tornado Relief meet with Missouri at 5 p.m. CDT.
