TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - In the latest installment of the Campbell/Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings, the women's tennis team came in at No. 7, marking the highest national ranking in program history. In addition, it marks the second time the Crimson Tide has been ranked inside the top 10, and first under head coach Jenny Mainz.
The Crimson Tide has enjoyed a stellar 2012 campaign as it currently sits at 15-3 overall and 9-1 in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama has claimed all but two doubles points throughout the season and has won 10 of its last 11 matches, which includes road wins against No. 5 Georgia and No. 22 Tennessee last weekend.
The Tide boasts a trio of nationally-ranked singles players in sophomore Mary Anne Macfarlane (No. 15), junior Alexa Guarachi (No. 44) and senior Courtney McLane (No. 112). In addition, Alabama has four doubles teams ranked in the top-80 including Guarachi and McLane (No. 21), Guarachi and Macfarlane (No. 37), Macfarlane and junior Antonia Foehse (No. 56) and McLane and senior Taylor Lindsey (No. 79).
The Tide will wrap up its regular-season slate on Saturday when it heads to Auburn to take on the Tigers. First serve is slated for 5 p.m. CT.
