NEW ORLEANS -
University of Alabama high jumper Krystle Schade has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Female Athlete of the Year for the indoor track and field season.
Schade earned the honor after winning the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championship in the high jump by clearing a school-record height of 6 feet, 2 inches. That height was the second best mark in the nation this season and helped her remain undefeated this season through five competitions. She has cleared 6-0 in three of her five meets this season and is one of just four athletes that have cleared 6-0 in the history of the program.
Schade will look to remain undefeated and add a national championship to her long list of accomplishments Friday evening at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boise, Idaho.
