TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama gymnastics team will discover which of the six NCAA Regional Championship sites it will be seeded into Monday, March 26 at 2 p.m. CDT on The NCAA Gymnastics Championships Selection Show which will be shown on NCAA.com.
As one of the top-18 teams in the nation, Alabama will be one of three seeded teams assigned to one of the six regional sites. The sites, determined prior to the season, include Seattle, Wash., Salt Lake City, Utah, Fayetteville, Ark., Champaign, Ill., Auburn, Ala. and Raleigh, N.C.
Coming into this year's postseason, the Crimson Tide has won an NCAA-best 26 regional championships, including seven in a row.
The seeds are determined by regional qualify score (RQS), a formula that takes a team's top three away scores, its next three highest scores, drops the high score and averages the remaining five. The top 36 teams by RQS advance to regionals. The top 18 teams are seeded into a regional and the next three are assigned by geographic proximity. The host schools remain at home if they are among the top-36 nationally.
The top two finishers at each of the regional sites advances to the NCAA Championships final site, which will be held in Duluth, Ga. in the Arena at Gwinnett Place, which just hosted the SEC Championships.
The Crimson Tide is looking for its 30th consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships final site this season and its sixth national title.
