Here's a look inside the score sheet of Alabama's season, home and Southeastern Conference opener against Georgia on Friday, Jan. 13.
- Alabama's 196.475 against Georgia was its highest opening night score since posting a 196.725 in the Super Six Challenge on Jan. 9, 2004 in Tuscaloosa.
- The coaching staff handed out three Bricks of the Week (denoting the best performances/performances to build on) prior to Sunday's practice. Senior Geralen Stack-Eaton, senior Ashley Priess and junior Ashley Sledge all earned the weekly honor.
-
- Stack-Eaton got her senior year started off with her first career 10.0 on the vault. She also tied for first on the uneven bars with a 9.875 and tied Alabama's high score of 9.85 on the balance beam.
- Priess made her return to Alabama's lineup after sitting out last season following surgery on both ankles. She tied for first on the uneven bars with a 9.875, tied Alabama's high score of 9.85 on the balance beam and anchored Alabama's floor exercise lineup with a 9.9, tying for first place and clinching the win over Georgia.
- Sledge made her collegiate debut in the all-around, winning it with a 39.450, including a career-best 9.975 on the vault. It marked her first all-around competition since she was a junior in high school.
- Junior Ashley Sledge's 9.975 on the vault, the Tide's third routine of the 2012 season, was the highest score posted by an Alabama gymnast since Morgan Dennis scored a 9.975 on the vault on Feb. 26, 2010 against Kentucky. Two routines later, senior Geralen Stack-Eaton's 10.0 on vault became the Tide's highest score on any event since the 2005 season.
- Geralen Stack-Eaton's 10.0 on the vault in her first routine of the 2012 season was the first perfect score for the Crimson Tide since Ashley Miles scored two 10.0s in the NCAA Super Six Team finals (vault and floor exercise) on April 22, 2005 in Auburn, Ala. Stack-Eaton is the 13th UA gymnast to score at least one 10.0 during her career and the seventh to score a 10.0 on the vault.
- Senior Ashley Priess competed in three events, the uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. She anchored and posted the highest UA score on all three events, winning the uneven bars and floor exercise.
- Junior Marissa Gutierrez shared first place on the floor exercise after scoring a 9.9 against Georgia. It marked her first individual collegiate title on the floor exercise.
- Sophomore Kim Jacob led off the Tide's balance beam and floor exercise rotations, getting Alabama off to a solid start on both with scores of 9.825.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Clark, Kayla Williams and Lora Leigh Frost made their Crimson Tide debut against Georgia. Clark led off the Tide's season, going up first on vault, and getting things started with a 9.825. Williams was next up on the vault and scored a 9.8. Clark also competed on the uneven bars while Frost competed on the floor exercise.
- Alabama posted 18 scores of 9.8 or better against Georgia. Through the Tide's first three home meets of the season Tuscaloosa Toyota is donating $200 per 9.8 or better score that Alabama produces to assistant coach Dana Duckworth's ReadBAMARead foundation that was created to help restock school libraries that were destroyed during April's devastating tornado. The Tide's total against Georgia raised $3600 for ReadBAMARead. For more information on the foundation go to www.ReadBAMARead.org.
- Alabama's score of 49.550 on the vault was higher than any total it recorded during the 2011 regular season.
- All six of Alabama's vault scored better than a 9.8 while four of six routines in the competitive lineup scored better than 9.9 in the uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
- After the win over Georgia, Alabama is now a 44-1-1 in home openers and 56-8-1 in season openers under coaches Sarah and David Patterson. That mark includes several multi-team meets, including Super 6 Challenges.
