Tide Completes Tournament Schedule with SEC Indoors this Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's tennis team will take part in its final tournament when it heads to the SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships, running January 13-16, at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington, Ky. The Crimson Tide will be represented by seniors Ricky Doverspike and Michael Thompson and freshmen Filippos Tsangaridis and David Vieyra.
"This will be our last chance to compete before our season-opening dual match against Northwestern next week," said Alabama head coach Billy Pate. "We'll get another look at our two new additions along with Ricky and Michael against a very tough SEC field. This tournament showcases some of the best players in the conference, so it will be a good test."
The four Alabama players were last active at the UCF Invitational Tournament last weekend, where they collected a combined 11 wins throughout the event.
Match play begins on Friday at 7:30 a.m. CT with the first round of doubles. Following doubles will be two rounds of singles, including one round of consolation matches. Saturday will feature another round of singles and doubles beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT, while Sunday will hold the singles main draw quarterfinals and semifinals, the consolation semifinals and finals, as well as doubles. Matches will wrap up Monday with the main draw finals at 11:00 a.m. CT.
