Softball Opens Women's College World Series Against Cal

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 2 seed Alabama softball team (51-9) will open the Women's College World Series against No. 7 seed California (44-11). The two teams will start the competition at Oklahoma City on Thursday, June 2, at noon CT. Pam Ward and Michele Smith will call the action on ESPN2 from ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Crimson Tide advances to its seventh Women's College World Series appearance on the strength of a doubleheader win against No. 15 seed Stanford this past week at Rhoads Stadium. The Golden Bears downed the Kentucky Wildcats in the if-necessary game on Sunday to punch its ticket as well.
