
Softball Falls to Georgia in Semifinals, 4-2

OXFORD, Miss. - The Alabama softball team fell in the semifinal round of the Southeastern Conference tournament to Georgia by the score of 4-2, Friday night at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. After the day the Crimson Tide moves to 46-8 on the season.
Down two in the bottom of the seventh the Tide nearly mounted a two-out comeback as junior Amanda Locke just missed ending the game on a shot that was caught at the wall.
With the score, 2-1, in the sixth and with two outs, Bulldogs catcher Ashley Razey hit a three-run home run to dead-center to give Georgia a 4-2 lead.
Alabama opened the scoring in the first inning when senior Whitney Larsen tattooed a double off the wall in left-center to plate junior Jennifer Fenton all the way from first. Fenton started off the inning with a single up the middle.
After an 0-2 count to junior Jazlyn Lunceford, the game went into a weather delay due to lightning in the area. The delay lasted nearly two and a half hours.
Alabama increased its lead to 2-0 when sophomore Courtney Conley grounded into a double play but freshman Jordan Patterson was able to score.
Freshman Jackie Traina (17-5) allowed four unearned runs on six hits in 6.1 innings. The right-hander struck out eight and walked one.
Morgan Montemayor improved to 22-3 on the season after allowing two runs on six hits while walking three in the complete game effort.
